Story
In the summer of 2019, Jacob will be setting off to Tanzania. Along with fellow Keswick school students, he’ll have the opportunity of a lifetime to be part of a project to develop much needed resources in a local, rural community. It will consist of supporting the provision of a school, public latrines and a regular water supply. Once the students’ duties are complete, they will have the chance to climb Mount Meru, a mere 4,565 metres…, before returning home.
This expedition does not come cheap and so, as part of this whole experience, Jacob has bought into the idea, determined to raise the money himself to secure a seat on the plane.
Both Jacob’s mother and father travelled to Tanzania: Rachel with her school in the early ‘90s and Richard, earlier still, for six months in 1988.
The cost of the trip is £4,360 and so between now and then, whilst he’ll be preparing to sit his GCSEs, Jacob will be organising and competing in a series of fund raising events – the first of which is a New Year’s Eve swim at Whitehaven beach at midday.
Updates on his fundraising exploits will be available through this just giving page – please contact Jacob, his parents or his school for more information, if you wish.
Thank you very much for any support you are able to give.
