Story

My dear wife Jacqueline is in the biggest fight of her life.

What started out as increasing headaches, vertigo and nausea in August 2022 reached such an acute point in September that we had to rush her in an ambulance to A&E. Tests and scans led us to a painful discovery: there was a mass in the back of her brain.

Jacqueline has bravely and discretely survived breast cancer that started seven years ago. We thought that her mastectomy in 2020 had put an end to it. However, that night in September at the emergency department, the doctors suspected a new cancerous tumour and ordered her immediate hospitalisation.

This initial time at the hospital was very challenging and frightening, full of questions and confusion. By then, Jacqueline had not been able to eat or sleep well for weeks. Her vulnerable physical and emotional condition, plus the steroids she had to take, initiated very bad side effects. It was painful to see that my precious partner and best friend was actually falling into a heavy state of delirium that I wouldn't wish on anyone.

Through further scans, sadly a second tumour was discovered in her lung. This is currently being studied.

Thankfully, the tumor in her cerebellum was successfully removed on September 26.

The neurosurgeons were pleased with the operation itself but the highly distressing delirium remained. Through the talented care from the medical team and many prayers from family and friends, after a few weeks, Jacqueline made a break through and "woke up" from this psychotic dreamlike condition.

Here is a video I prepared with the great assistance of my daughter, Liliana, to pay tribute to the brave teams who took good care of Jacqueline at Royal Preston Hospital and Cumberland Infirmary Carlisle. They brought her back from her "dream"...

The consultant discharged her at the end of October 2022 with a strong recommendation for Jacqueline to stop working indefinitely.

Jacqueline was self-employed and with a successful career. In her characteristic kind and loving nature, she had a professional strategy and motto: help colleagues first! Her well-earned income fulfilled 100% the financial needs of our family of three children.

Having decided years ago to homeschool, I personally have had the full-time role of teacher for our children plus the management of our household. However, I am now rushing the final details to launch a music business - being a qualified classical musician - to reverse our roles for financial provision. The challenge is that it will take time to generate the urgently needed money to replace Jacqueline's income.

Our financial commitments have always been faithfully honoured, even large amounts for Jacqueline's private immunotherapy throughout seven years since the cancer was first diagnosed. However during these last months without income, bills have accrued. To top it all, our current landlord handed us an untimely notice back in September to move house in February 2023. As you can appreciate, the family finances have taken a very bad hit under very painful circumstances.

I'm grateful to God for having Jacqueline back at home and for how well she is recovering from the operation. I'm grateful for how strong our children have been through all of this. I resist being anxious so I just take one step at a time. As the challenges continue, God is giving my family and I His peace that surpasses all understanding.

I thank you very much for being here reading all of this. Please, if you feel led, consider donating to Jacqueline and our family. You will provide an invaluable respite in a time of dire need. No amount is too small!

Of course, another way to participate is by helping to distribute this message to anyone you think might like to contribute.

Finally, kindly join us in prayer for complete healing of Jacqueline.

Thank you ever so much!

Sincerely,

Grego Esquivel
