Story
My children are going to Belgium Battlefields in 2018 with Cubs and Scouts. The children are currently organising various fundraisers locally. We thought we would try to raise awareness for Scouting whilst raising funds.
The children will be visiting the Battlefirlds of World War I and will be taking part in Last Post Ceremony at Menin Gate (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GDz4Z1HKwok) along with visiting a theme park and water sports.
My son has been involved in Scouting since he was 5 years old. He was a Beaver at 4th Darlaston, a Cub at 4th Darlaston and is currently a Scout at 46th Sandwell. He has grown into a young person who can work as a team, encourage others and can lead a team. His confidence in Scouting has grown over the years, dispite some hurdles. He is learning new skills and meeting new and interesting people by going on adventures in the UK and Europe.
My oldest daughter has recently transferred to Scouts from Guides has been fortunate to be offered a place on this trip after a short time of being a Scout. She began as a Rainbow and moved on to Brownies and progressed Guides. She really enjoyed attending Girl Guiding however as she got older it was not enough for her. During her time at Girl Guiding she made and kept friends, her confidence has grown and has become a keen helper to young children. The transfer to Scouts has enabled her to take part in much more adventurous activities and outdoor activities - getting muddy.
Last but no means least, my youngest daughter was a Rainbow and Brownie, she has also transferred to Cubs. She was fortunate to be offered a place on the same trip. Being outdoors, learning new skills that can not be taught in schools is fabulous. They are being taught life skills while making new friends not just locally but from other part of the UK.
Thank you for taking the time to read about my children and Scouting, I hope this has encouraged you to either make a donation or share or even join Scouting :-)

I have four children who are all involved in Scouting, years ago I was a helper at a Scout group and I am in the process of becoming a helper again. Scouting gives children and young people lots of opportunities to learn new skills, meet people, have an adventure and have fun!
