I've raised £120000 to restore the Mary Stanford Lifeboat House at Rye Harbour East Sussex
Organised by Jacqueline Stanford
In 1928 the 17 crew of the Mary Stanford Lifeboat launched from this lifeboat house to save the lives of the crew of a stricken ship. They never returned and the village of Rye Harbour was decimated - some families lost three men. The lifeboat house has been closed since then, but we have set up a charity to raise money to restore the boat house back to its original specification and we are forming a Museum to the memory of those 17 brave men. We believe this lifeboat house is one of the last of its kind in existence and we have achieved Grade II listing
