Story

Forever Angels Orphanage is set in one of the poorest areas of Tanzania. It provides interim care for orphaned and abandoned children and works to provide the best possible care and experiences for these vulnerable children. The charity was set up by an amazing lady Amy Hathaway who was living in Tanzania and came across four dying babies in a hospital closet. She was told they were dying of AIDS, but what was clear was that they were actually dying from starvation and neglect. She knew she had to do something to help.

She started Forever Angels Baby Home which has cared for over 300 babies - reuniting 145 with relatives, and finding adoptive families for 72.

Over the years, she came to realise that many of the families we support want to care for their own children at home, they just don’t have the financial capacity to do it. Maisha Matters was born as a way to prevent child abandonment and keep babies with their families.

This summer sees me travelling to Mwanza in Tanzania in support of the charity where I will be working with both the children and staff. Whilst I truly hope I am able to make a difference in supporting this incredible charity I also know it will make a huge difference to myself and will be a very humbling experience.
