Crowdfunding is a new type of fundraising where you can raise funds for your own personal cause, even if you're not a registered charity.
The page owner is responsible for the distribution of funds raised.
It has been an ambition of mine from a young age to go and volunteer in a sanctuary for big cats, and now is my chance. My plan is to travel to Kevin Richardson's wildlife sanctuary, located in the Gauteng Province of South Africa.
During my stay I will be involved with maintaining and.caring for the animals that live in the sanctuary, as well as being involved in the restoration and development of the reserve. Duties might include any of the following:
- Cleaning and filling water holes
- Bush cutting
- Fence work
- Bone and faeces removal
- Litter picking
- Food preparation for the animals
- Animal enrichment, walks with the lions and building toys for stimulation
- Anti poaching walks and de-snaring sweeps
- River clean ups
- Road maintenance
- Removal of invasive plants
- Fire break maintenance
- Assistance on filming documents with Kevin
- Occasional office work
- Occasional building, painting or repair work
- Occasional tree planting
The price for the trip for 4 weeks is around £2300. This includes the volunteer placement, accommodation, food, transfers, 24hr support and liability insurance. Not included in the price are the return flights, local transfers, required vaccinations, travel insurance and spending money, along with any required equipment or clothing etc.
I have the determination to do this I just need a little help :)
I'll be sure to share my experience with lots of pictures!!!
