I have just recently stopped working as it's seasonal. I am claiming universal credit and have recently discovered I am not going to receive any benefit until end of August! I am not able to get an advance payment or any other help from local job centre (as I already had help financially to help with travel expenses to get to and from work). Even if I was entitled to help, you have to pay back monthly whatever payment you receieve and due to me getting an advance to help when I started work, this has already left me with only around £150 a month starting end 15th August. I was advisied by my local job centre to contact my local council and ask for financial help. I did contact them but was refused help due to the fact I don't have my own tenancy agreement, as I live at a care if address. I have no family or friends who are in a position to help and I really don't know what else to do? I feel like I'm being punished for working. I would appreciate any help possible, or even any advice would be much appreciated. I feel so ashamed having to write on this site but it's just another way I've come across whilst searching the internet.
