Esme is a happy smiley 4 year old little girl. At 6 months old Esme was diagnosed with infantile seizures and spastic quadriplegic cerebral palsy.... Since then Jenna and Grants lives have been a daily struggle with constant hospital appointments, numerous hospital admissions and operations with Esme needing regular input from physio, occupational therapists and speech and language therapists to name a few.

On top of this Esme has to fight her own battles day to day. Her spasms and stiffness cause her incredible pain and discomfort which is managed by medication and Botox.
She also struggles with severe gastro problems with sickness and retching being a daily occurance.

" Knowing that your little girl will never walk, talk or feed on her own is heartbreaking... If we could make her life a little more easier or bearable in any way possible than as her parents we would gain comfort from this" Jenna

Esme has had a downstairs bedroom built for her to have her own room which she so desperately needed. Unfortunately there is no funding available for this as they have already been used for necessary alterations and adaptations. The fight within is slowly going...

Over the past few years carrying Esme up and down the stairs has put a strain on Jenna's health as well as the whole family, with dad working long hours and weekends Esmes siblings (2 brothers and a sister) have become little carers helping their little sister as best they can.

As Esme grows there will come a point where it will be unsafe for Jenna and Grant to carry her upstairs a wet room would stop this worry. Carers would also be able to come in and help, giving Esme some much needed independence which will have a huge impact on family life for them all!

On the 15th October me, Jenna and Rob will be running 26.2 miles to help raise awareness and hopefully raise the funds they need!!
