Story
On the 28th of July I am doing the 5k colour run in Wolverhampton.
I am determined to raise money towards a Hyperbaric Oxygen Chamber for my friend Paige. Paige had an operation when she was 17 to fix the alignment of her knee she then developed extensive pain and was diagnosed with CPRS (Complex regional pain syndrome) of which is the highest pain on the McGill pain scale.
There is no cure for Paige's condition and she endures extensive pain on a daily basis which has prevented her dream of becoming a paediatric nurse and minimises her activity's which she was before able to do.
Paige's symptoms include-
- Severe 24/7 burning pain
- Dramatic increase in skin temperature
- Swelling & stiffness
- Colour change
- Extreme sensitivity to touch
- Reduced mobility
- Strange sensations
- Muscle spasms & shooting pains
- Insomnia
Paige received physio and pain relief however these came nowhere near to helping Paige. Paige began to do extensive research into alternative therapies and found Hyperbaric oxygen treatment.
Paige paid for 20 consecutive sessions to get her blood oxygenated as close to 100% as possible following the therapy the swelling, burning, temperature changes and pain all started to reduce which was amazing. Work commitments, finances and difficulties travelling meant Paige had to stop.
Paige amazes me with her strength and determination despite the pain taking over her daily life, there will never be a cure for CPRS however having the chamber will give her some hope and relief and I am determined to help her as much as possible in raising the funds she needs.
Paige would also like people to benefit from the chamber in the local area once she raises the funds to purchase one and it would mean the world to me if people would be so kind to donate and help to achieve in making this happen <3 Thank you so very much xx
