Story
June 2012 we decided 2 try for another baby, it didn't take long but at 6 weeks had a bleed so went off 4 a scan & found out I was having ID twins. At my 12 week scan 1 twin had thickened Nuchal so was sent 2 another hospital 4 a more detailed scan where they suspected TTTS. Both babies were doing well I was having scans every week at specialist hospital, 1 baby was always smaller and less fluid than other but both continued 2 grow. At 16 weeks found out we was having boys we named Jake & Alfie. At 28 weeks the specialist hospital was happy with the boys and told us it wasn't TTTS (Twin to Twin Transfusion Syndrome) so referred our care back 2 local hospital. At 29 weeks I went into pre term labour was given steroids and a drip 2 stop Labour and spent 5 days in hospital 2 be sent home on bed rest on the Tuesday. Come Thurs (31 weeks) we returned 2 the hospital 4 reduced movement where they confirmed the boys had passed. Our world fell apart. They gave me a tablet 2 stop my pregnancy and was told 2 come back Saturday 4 inducement. Later that night at 3am my waters broke. At 4.30 I made my way downstairs and had the urge 2 push. Once there I was wheeled 2 delivery and given G&A. Jake arrived 1st at 5.33am weighing 3lb15 followed by Alfie who weighed 3lbs. They where so perfect. We had them buried together which is what we wanted 4 them as that was all they ever knew.
We had the post mortem results which revealed that Alfie only had 40% of the placenta which was inflamed and the cord was attached to the side not the bottom making his growth restricted. Jake was still passing blood to him but wasn't getting any back. This caused Jake to pass away. Despite being told that the boys didn't have TTTS that is what they passed away from. Now 4 years on we still haven't a head stone for the boys and would very much love to have their garden finalised.
