From the 5th of March this year until recently Leicester Neonatal Unit were taking care of the 2 newest members of my Family. A bit of our families story is below...

Georgia and Jasmine, my Step-Sister Sam and my Step-Brother-In-Law (What a mouthful) Adam have been lucky to receive some outstanding care and support from the staff at Leicester, through a very overwhelming few months. When you consider all 42 Cots they have full on any given day, and take into account the more than 12,000 Deliveries this unit covers every year, it's clear what an important and exceptional little piece of the NHS this is. As with the entirety of Britain's amazing Health Service, it's criminally underfunded, but that's a whole different story.

I'll be running the Omaha Half-Marathon on December 1st of this year and in doing so hope to raise some money for the fantastic work this Unit does for Families like ours, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

Anything you can give will be going to a wonderful place, to consistently perform tiny miracles.

The British Medical Journal estimates that it costs up to £1500 for one baby to spend one day in Neonatal Intensive Care. So that's the goal!

Update: On the 10/11/19 we said goodbye to little Georgia after an 8 month uphill battle with all sorts of complications. In her memory and with the intention of enabling the Neonatal unit to continue to do their great work for families like ours we’ll be pushing ahead with the fundraising regardless. We are all so thankful that the tireless work of the hospital staff allowed us to have a short but precious amount of time with G.
