Story

My beloved father Md Nizam Uddin passed away on the eve of Ramadan 2020 with covid19. May Allah forgive his sins and accept him into paradise. He was a proud and generous man who never shied away from doing his part in the community whether it was here in London or in Bangladesh where he was born and raised. He always taught me to maintain kinship and support needy people in any way possible. He always sided with the truth and taught me to be honourable even if it meant going against oneself. I am truly grateful for this and will miss him dearly.

In memory of my father, I am raising funds for a community well in Africa. Access to clean water can transform the lives of a whole community. Community water wells can serve more than 1,000 people and are often located in arid areas where water is particularly scarce. According to our beloved Messenger Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) the best charity is 'providing water'.

My father also believed that a place of worship is the heart of the community. It is a place to grow spiritually and enhance knowledge and wisdom which is integral to ones self-identity and belonging in this World. For this reason he supported the East Ham Islamic Centre & Academy to benefit the local community. He hoped the Academy would be a beacon of knowledge and teach children to strive for greatness and respect humanity. He hoped to do more and made a financial pledge which he is no longer able to keep. With the help of beloved family and friends I would like to fulfill this promise.

May your appreciation and support be rewarded abundantly in this World and the next, God willing (in sha Allah).
