A father & his two young children will be taking on a 28 mile cycle challenge to raise awareness around the impact of family separation and the ongoing crisis of children losing contact with their fathers.

The 28 miles highlights the 28 fathers the charity reconnected with their children and James’ Ark looks to increase these figures in 2023.

Any funding the charity raises will go towards their support groups for dads and mums, family separation courses, wellbeing sessions, helpline for guidance, and the coaching & mentoring program for intense support for the separation process.

Children growing up without their fathers in their lives is becoming a crisis worldwide and it is said that 40% of all fathers lose contact with their children within two years after separation.

James' Ark seeks to support fathers and their families going through difficult life challenges. One of the most common is family separation. We look to lower conflict and trauma through early intervention.

James’ Ark offers families the support through the separation process to achieve the best outcomes for their children. We offer support to reconnect with your children, and make the right choices in regaining lost access. We do not discriminate, we help the father and the wider family involved. Whatever your situation, we are there to support you. We offer information, advice and support services for families to help them through probably the hardest times in their lives. By doing so, we can help them feel that they are not alone and enable separated parents to do the best for their children.

We will look to raise awareness of this family matter and the effect on the wider family to achieve the best possible outcome for families. If you are struggling, and need support, come along to one of our support groups or call our helpline, talk to others who have been there, and who have found solutions. We run peer support groups. We encourage positive behaviour from our group members, whether dealing with other services or the other parent. We also offer a McKenzie friend service and can offer advice and first -hand experience through the family court process. We have a support helpline for guidance, one-to-one mentoring, coaching, advocacy and mediation. Coaching and mentoring are a positive approach to support parents to overcome any barriers that may be blocking a positive relationship with their children. We run the Triple P family transitions course for separated family members who are struggling. During these courses we support with wellbeing, emotional coping strategies and dealing with family separation while keeping your children in mind. There are aftercare services for any families who have been through the separation process, whether this be a positive or negative outcome for them, we offer them this emotional support. There are no fees involved. If we can help the family make these changes, it is the best outcome for everyone involved. Our priority is to support families, in regaining the relationships they deserve, with their family. James’ Ark believes early intervention is the key.

Children from fatherless homes are 63% of youth suicides, 76% of young men in prison, 90% of homeless men, 75% of substance abusers, 85% of children who show behavioural issues come from fatherless homes and our young girls are 7x more likely to become teenage mums.
