I'm an English Volunteer living in Zaporizhzhia Ukraine. I have lived in Zaporizhzhia for 2 years.
I'm married to a Ukrainian woman and together we run an officialy registered Ukranian Charity.
"HIMARS" Zaporizhzhia is a charity group that sources, collects, and distributes Humanitarian Aid throughout the Zaporizhzhia region, with emphasis on front line civilian areas currently caught up in the fighting.
Unlike most charities, we both hold military volunteer ID which means that, although we are not actually military, we can access areas that most charity groups cannot access and can request assistance from military units to distribute Humanitarian Aid.
We have a brilliant working relationship with all agencies within the Zaporizhzhia region including Police, Fire, Ambulance, Rescue Services and of course the Military.
Our aim is to source and supply desperately needed Humanitarian Aid to people in areas that would normally receive very little Aid or assistance, or no Aid or assistance at all.
We have been doing this now for 2 years and have built up a good reputation with everyone around us.
We don't need much to do this work... Most of the aid Is donated and delivered to one of our storage areas free of charge, and our staff are all unpaid volunteers. We do however need to pay rent fees and electricity etc. for these storage areas, and we also have to find money for fuel to deliver the Aid that we receive.
Over the past 2 years, this has worked out to approximately £250.00 per week. Based on the amount of miles that we cover, and the amount of people that we help, compared to other charity groups this is a very small amount.
But his is the amount that we need, and that we hope that generous people will donate to our page each week. This amount, will enable us to continue our work as we have for the previous 2 years.
