Story
In 2024 I will be going to Kenya on a 4-week expedition to volunteer on community development work, environmental projects and wildlife conservation. The core objectives are to raise educational standards, improve living standards and assist with ongoing wildlife conservation programs to preserve biodiversity and protect vulnerable habitats. This expedition is organised by Camps International, a social enterprise with philanthropic aims, alongside my school. I will have just turned 16 when I go next year.
I hope to use the experience to grow in maturity and build my international cultural understanding. I am hugely grateful for the opportunity to work alongside Kenyan communities on valuable social and ecological projects, and to learn from the teams. I will give it my absolute best.
I am keen to bring the new skills and outlook I’ll learn from this incredible challenge to my established volunteering activities at school, and as a local Scout Young Leader.
I am self-funding the trip, costing £4,630, and am fundraising towards this total plus essential equipment (backpack/sleeping bag) and preparations (vaccinations/meds etc.). Thank you SO MUCH for any help you can give.
