Weʼre raising £5,000 to Fund A 'Clearway' and 'Traffic Study'
Don't have time to donate right now?
Story
To the residents of Leziate and Ashwicken - your help would be appreciated.
There is a serious problem with parking and traffic size and speed in your village. At a public meeting in September last year it became clear that between £15,000 and £20,000 would be needed to extend the 'Clearway' to roads off the B1145 to prevent street parking for visitors to Bawsey pits, and to fund a Traffic Study.
I have committed to fund £10,000 from my Highways fund towards this work. But we need more and I wanted to create a method for residents, and those who would benefit, whom might wish to help to be able to contribute to the cost of the work as the Parish Council has insufficient funds to make up the shortfall.
I am therefore going to once again don my trainers and do the 10K Great East Anglia Run (GEAR) on 1st May in King's Lynn. I ran it once before in 2018 but shingles, a worn out knee and a liking for red wine will make this a much more challenging undertaking. All sponsorship will be donated to your Parish Council and ring-fenced to only be spent on the above.

22 days agoWell, all done and dusted. Fantastic support for the runners, joggers, walkers etc as they made their way round the 10k course this morning. Very grateful for all the support I received, and continue to receive. My time was 1 hr 11mins and 51 sec, so well inside the 75 minutes target, despite getting in a tangle with a dog on a lead inside the final kilometre and taking a bit of a tumble !

1 month agoJust one week to go. I tried to do 10k last week when in France but couldn't get beyond 3k ! Better this morning - manged to get round the GEAR route, but not without the odd pause. I am hoping to run without stopping on the day and would be very pleased with any time under 1hr 15m. My page was temporarily frozen whilst I was away as I needed to supply bank details so my apologies to anyone who tried to donate but was frustrated. Have been stuck on £500 for a few weeks now but hope folks will help me help get this Clearway for villagers.

2 months agoJust a quick update and my fulsome thanks to all for commitments to date. This Wednesday evening will be the fifth training session at Lynnsport organised by Ryston Runners (RR), sponsored by Recipharm. Last Sunday I also ventured out on the 10K GEAR course with RR for a trial run at 0800. It was my first 10k for over three years and I managed to get lost on the Walks as I was concentrating so hard on breathing I missed a turning and wondered why, as I looked up, everyone was running in the opposite direction. Will try again next Sunday !
