Story

One of my good friends is a MEDSERVE Medic, and I'd heard a lot about the great work that this dedicated group of volunteers does.

I didn't really appreciate this work he does, until I saw him treat a seriously injured cyclist, while off duty and with none of his specialist medical equipment did I come to appreciate the dedication and skill of BASICS medics.

It's a common misconception that the ambulance service can easily call doctors to the scene of an accident, in reality that is not the case, especially overnight. All that the people of South Wales has is MEDSERVE, and many of their patients will never know that their life was saved by a volunteer medic.

That's why I James Trigg am running for MEDSERVE.

More About MEDSERVE...

MEDSERVE Wales has provided volunteer medics who react at any time of day or night to help the public of South Wales when they need it most since its inception in 1991.

Road traffic accidents are unfortunately a regular feature of life in Wales. It’s not until you or someone you love is involved in such an incident that you experience and benefit from the emergency services that attend the scene.

At medical or trauma emergencies, often major trauma due to road traffic collisions where people have been very badly injured, volunteer medics from MEDSERVE Wales will attend and treat the casualties. Who are these dedicated medics who, in their spare time, or breaking away from their day job, will get to the scene in their own blue light capable vehicles to do what they can to help the injured?

We are a group of NHS medics that are committed to improving the treatment of major trauma in South Wales. Some of us are hospital specialists, and some work in General Practice around the region. We all use our extended skills when called upon to attend serious incidents or accidents.
