Story

On the 7th of May 2022 we sadly lost our good friend James Venguedasalon. Anyone who knew or met James will agree that he was truly one of a kind and was loved by so many people.

James absolutely loved walking and spending time outdoors whenever he could. So in memory of James, a group of around 14 of us will be attempting to complete the National Three Peaks Challenge in under 24 hours on the 4th and 5th of August. We are hoping to raise money that will be donated to Lancashire Mind, a charity who's aim is to increase awareness and understanding of mental health and wellbeing across Lancashire. Around £1,176 will be used to purchase a memorial bench that will be located just in front of the wall surrounding Darwen Tower overlooking the town. The cost includes the bench, a memorial plaque, delivery and installation. All the remaining proceeds will then be donated to Lancashire Mind.

Every donation no matter how small will be greatly appreciated and it all will hopefully be able to help many people in someway.

The plan for the challenge is:

5pm - Start Ben Nevis hike
10pm - Finish Ben Nevis hike and set off to the Lake District
4am - Arrive and start Scafell Pike hike
8am - Finish Scafell Pike hike and set off to Snowdonia
1pm - Arrive and start Snowdon hike
5pm - Finish Snowdon and have completed the challenge in under 24 hours.

The challenge will be done without a guide and we will be doing the driving ourselves. Even if we don't complete all three peaks in under 24 hours and are slightly over, we will still be finishing as a group. We will post an update soon with the confirmed group members.

None of the money raised will be used to fund the challenge. This will be self funded by all those involved.
