I am a 16 year Explorer scout from the Mavericks in Saxilby, the Explorers replaced the Venture scouts which you might have heard of before. In August 2018 I am taking part in one of the highest scouting awards the Explorer Belt.

The Explorer belt involves a 10 day expedition, we have chosen Northern Italy as our destination. We have to cover a minimum of 50 hours travelling time, this can be by foot, cycle, horse, canoe, boat or dinghy.

As part of the Explorer belt, I hope to improve my navigation skills, expedition cooking, light weight camping, learn Italian, home hospitality, increase my fitness levels, proficiency in the mode of transport, team building and first aid skills.

All of the above will remain with me for the rest of my life and will assist me enormously as I move from the 6th form at school to the work environment.

Whilst in Italy we also have to complete a challenge each day plus a major project that lasts the duration of the expedition. The challenges are yet to be determined.

To cover the cost of the Explorer Belt we have to fund raise, I would therefore be extremely grateful if you are able to make a small donation towards my expedition.
