Story

In May, after discovering a large lump on my lower back, I was diagnosed as having a Ewing's Sarcoma, a very rare form of cancer. I have recently been undergoing treatment at Clatterbridge Cancer Hospital, Wirral and am currently on my 5th cycle of chemotherapy.

The next stage of my treatment is to go to Jacksonville, Florida for approximately 10 weeks for proton beam therapy (a type of radiotherapy only currently available in the US/Germany). Conventional radiotherapy can damage surrounding tissue and as my tumour is near several organs, this could affect my health later on in life and this is why proton beam therapy is the most suitable treatment.

Fortunately, the NHS cover the cost of the flights to Jacksonville for myself and one carer and accommodation. I will be continuing with chemotherapy alongside proton beam therapy whilst in Jacksonville and will therefore need someone there to care for me. However, with the trip being 10 weeks, nobody will be able to stay with me for the full duration of the treatment. My Mum currently cares for both of my grandparents who have Alzheimer's, my girlfriend is currently at university and the rest of my family & friends are all employed full-time. This means that we will need family members to fly out at different times to ensure there is always someone there to help and support me.

Donations will be put towards extra flights needed and help towards living costs whilst in Jacksonville.

We would be extremely grateful for any donations, no matter what the amount is, it will help make the difference.
