Since as long as I can remember I have always used fitness as one of the ways of keeping on top of my or mental health.
No matter what else has happened in my life, I have remained consistent with my exercise routine because it has helped me deal with whatever is going on. It’s a sure way of making me feel positive and feel good within myself both physically and mentally.
I enjoy overcoming the mental challenges that pushing your body to the limit gives you so I have competed in many tough mudder and Spartan races because these events offer a great challenge both for your body and mind.
Since last March my exercise routine has been interrupted due to the lockdowns and gyms not being open. I usually weight train every day, so with the gyms being closed I had to find a way of exercising at home.
I started running even though I’m seriously not built for it and don’t really enjoy it but it was one of the only ways I could exercise during the lockdowns.
I recently came across this running challenge called 4x4x48 which was set up by ex US Navy seal David Goggins.
The challenge is to run 4 miles every 4 hours for 48 hours.
Not only is it a total of 48 miles but it’s also a great mental challenge because of the lack of sleep and pushing yourself to go out every 4 hours even during the night.
Mental health has always been a personal area for me and I want to provide as much awareness and support to this fantastic local men’s mental health charity.
These times have been challenging for everyone and mental health has never been more important. We need to look after ourselves and each other and recognise the mental health challenges that are effecting so many people.
Heres a bit about Menscraft...
