I've raised £250 to help fund money to buy a new Acheeva bed for the students in the sensory department at Portland Academy, Sunderland.

On the 7th July, I will be taking part in the Yorkshire Three Peaks. This consists of a 24 mile walk and includes 1585m (5200 ft) of ascent. I am a Teacher at Portland Academy which is a Special Needs school based in Sunderland, specialising in students with Autism and Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties.
The sensory department of the school are in desperate need of a new Acheeva bed which is used to allow our students to stretch out and for our staff to give the students the physio they require on a daily basis. This particular bed also has various other benefits to our students e.g. allowing them to rest/sleep comfortably and positional change.
As you can imagine, the cost of equipment that is necessary for our students is very expensive and a new Acheeva bed will cost the school £4,500. Now I know that this is a lot of money to raise, but this is only one of many different fundraising activities both myself and the school are going to take part in to raise the total amount.
My target for this challenge is £250.00. This doesn’t seem a lot compared to the cost of the bed, but it will help towards the full cost.
I would be most grateful for any support towards this great cause and contribution to this much needed bed for our students. You will be changing the life of numerous students in our school.
Thanks in advance for your support,
James
