Story

5 years have passed since our son James was giving his devastating diagnosis of Spinal Muscular Atrophy and we have come alone way. We have appreciated all the support so far to keep James independent especially with his first wheelchair 5 years ago what a life changing piece of equipment we raised money for. James is thriving and living his best life of course with the limitations he has but he never let's it get him down or trying out anything new in life, he just loves life. We have had a rollercoaster of a 5 years as a family adapting and living a life we didn't expect but we have adapted as best as we can and we still are learning our new norm and adapting along the way, James has went through lumber punctures every 4 months in theatre getting a treatment called spinraza, he attends private physio 3 times a year for an intensive sessions to keep him strong and his muscles moving, we have had appointments galore and lifes just busy trying to keep up with it all the demands and trying to keep James fit and well and as independent as possible while he lives his best life. We would love to raise some money for a new powered wheelchair chair for him as the restrictions put on us by the NHS are limiting James ability to live a life without limitations. We would absolutely love and be greatly appreciative of any support to make this happen for him. We really just want James to live a life where he doesn't feel like he is restricted and sometimes that comes at a cost which are high. We are attending a wheelchair event in Glasgow in Sept Kidz to Adultz 2026 with the hope we can find his new chair. James also has had his manual chair for coming up 5 years now, its old and really needs to be updates, we would love to get him a new and up to date manual to preferably with all terrain wheels which will allow his to go where ever he likes, we also are fundraising for a lift to get james upstairs so he can go up to his own room anytime he wants ❤️

We are absolutely so proud of James for all he goes through and all he has achieved in 5 years. We are so proud of the bravery he shows with all the hospital admissions and everything he goes through everyday. He is just the best and we want the world for him.

Thank you all so much for the continues support on James journey living with Spinal Muscular Atrophy( SMA ) we will always be so grateful for all the support so far. Love The Goodwins ❤️
