Story

Hi this is our son Jamie. He is 13 years old and loves football. Unfortunately he can't play regular football because his legs don't work. That's because he has a progressive muscle condition called Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. When he was 10, his legs stopped working and he had to face the reality of being permanently in a wheelchair. He didn't like this, He wants to walk and run and he wants to play football!!...BUT 2 years ago he discovered powerchair football! Football that he can play in his wheelchair...and he loves it!! Jamie knows that there is no cure for his condition but he doesn't yet know just how ill he will get or how it will rob him of his life at a young age.....so our goal is to make sure he enjoys every day doing the things he loves! Every Friday Night he trains with Lightning Powerchair Football Club. He has managed to work his way from the development squad into the competition squad and he loves to compete!! However he is now at the stage where his current wheelchair does not do what he needs it to do in order to play at competition level. So we are trying to fundraise to purchase a Strikeforce Powered Chair, but unfortunately they cost approximately £8000-£9000 😩 So we are asking all our friends, family and anyone else out there if you would consider donating even a few pounds to help raise funds for Jamie's new sportschair. Or if you can't donate then please please please like & share our justgiving page. If we raise the funds we need then Jamie promises to donate his current sportschair for new players to use and learn the game as well.
