Story

At the start of August 2024, at the age of 38, Dan was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease, a rare & highly destructive condition affecting the brain & nerves. A disease that will eventually and very devastatingly end Dans life.

Dan is a fitness fanatic who has dedicated many years of his life to the local football community and beyond. Still very bravely managing Hamworthy United FC, against all odds. Seeing someone who’s looked after themselves so well for so many years being struck down by this is heartbreaking.

My reason for setting up this page, is to help ease the pressures of what’s to come for Dan & his family. He has an amazing wife in Sophie & 2 incredible boys in Ashton & Xander by his side but you can’t even begin to imagine how things are & will be for this beautiful family in coming months.

Whilst having to deal with receiving this heartbreaking news, Dan will still have to work & support his family alongside covering costs for physiotherapy and any other treatment needed at this stage. The toughest part of the brutal disease is the not knowing, Dan could still be with us for a few years but in other cases it can be just a few months!

Our aim is to help this amazing family live out their remaining months (hopefully years) with their Husband/Dad in the best way possible. If that means helping towards holidays whilst Dan can still travel, easing financial pressures at home so they spend more time together or even to cover treatment costs then amazing, whatever it can be used for in such horrible times for them all, which quite honestly is unnimaginable.

I’m sure you’d agree in saying the thought of you having to deal with this in your own family would make you feel physically nauseous, so lets help make a difference to them. Please help us in playing your part in helping ease Dans family’s pain even 1%, we have the opportunity to put more smiles on their faces than tears in months to come & that would be quite simply everything.
