Story
Hi Everybody
I am cycling from London - Amsterdam in June 2022. Across 4 days i will cover an average of 90 miles a day. All of this to raise money and awareness for the Jamie Mcveigh Foundation - a charity very close to my heart.
some of you may already know that i played alongside Jamie for a number of years, he was a real warrior. Somebody who selflessly gave 110% week in week out for his team, a character like i’ve never met before in all my years of playing football. Most of all, a real good friend who i know we all miss so much.
The Jamie Mcveigh Foundation was set up by friends and family of Jamie after his tragic death at the young age of just 19. Although the circumstances surrounding his death never being fully understood his friends and family believed they had a social responsibilty to raise awareness and spread the message ‘ITS OK TO NOT BE OK’.
With mental health being ever more present in our daily lives, it is vital charities like these can continue to do the key work they do.
The JMF provides pathways into sport and physical activity by supporting those in the community in and around hatfield through financial support.
They connect young people through sport, encouraging openness and a safe place to talk about the daily stresses and struggles young people now face.
Most importantly, they work hard to de-stigmatise seeking help as a sign of weakness and encourage being open and honest as a eeal sign of strength.
So im asking you all to dig deep and smash the fundraising target. Every single penny will be greatly appreciated and will go towards giving young people in the community amazing oppurtunities, and could even save somebodies life.
Thank you,
Andrew
