Story
My name is Jan. I am an ex soldier who has enjoyed 20 years in the Army helping people and surviving, sadly my career has been cut short by injuries.
Now my time has come to an end in that life and l would like to devote my time and energy to helping as many people as l can, by any means l can, raising money for a variety of great causes.
I will start my first challenge to raise money for the Intensive Care Units in both Cumbria and Tyne and Wear.
I have been inspired by meeting some fantastic people in both communities whose lives have been turned upside down by life changing moments.
Thankfully they lived to see another day which is down to the hard work and professionalism of the staff in these hospitals who work tirelessly to care for each person every day.
The NHS provide only the basic equipment to aid the rehabilitation of the patients therefore, the money raised will be used to provide more specialist equipment to aid the recovery of the patients going through this traumatic period.

7 years agoNearly time for another walk. I am looking to venture on shorter walks along the NE coast. I find that would be better for my mobility and it may not kill me off. Any walk is still a challenge and we all need a good healthy walk.

7 years agoA fantastic event and cause to raise for, so happy l completed the task which really put my body through its paces. A new challenge will be less extreme but still for a great cause like this. Great to meet Herbert Briggs, his friends and family who have worked so hard to raise funds for the ITU over the last year. I look forward to seeing you on another event.
