Story

Hey ladies! Have you ever been caught off guard by a period without supplies? 😱

ActionAid recently conducted a poll which identified that sharing a tampon or a pad with someone in need, even a total stranger, is something many of us would do without hesitation.

But what if you are a girl living on the streets of the ghetto in Mbarara, Uganda? What do you do then??

In January I visited the ghetto in Mbarara, which is home to 326 street children - 210 boys and 116 girls. I visited the place where the boys live (as seen in the photos) but was not taken to the place the girls live. I was told it would not be good for me to go there due to the ‘mess’ from menstruation.

I am going back to the ghetto in the summer and will be purposely visiting the girls to take them sanitary products.

I need to raise £464 to buy reusable sanitary pads. This will buy 116 sets of pads for the girls in the ghetto which will last 1 year.

I am cycling 116km during the week of International Day for Street Children (12th April).

Please sponsor me to help bring relief from period poverty which only adds to the the pain and suffering these girls already face on a daily basis.
