Romsey Dementia Action Group (ROMDAG) support anyone living with dementia in the local community, including people with a diagnosis of dementia and their family members. They work hard to raise awareness of dementia and support local businesses and services to become dementia friendly. They have also created and support many activity groups for people with dementia across the local area.

Until fairly recently we were unaware of this wonderful group of volunteers. However, like many other people, our lives became affected by dementia when Mum was diagnosed with the life changing illness at the relatively young age of 65. Mum's diagnosis led us to finding out about the fabulous support that Romdag gives to the local community. They provide a friendly, supportive group where people who have been diagnosed with dementia and family members can go for support. The activities they organise provide a valuable lifeline to my family and I'm sure have impacted positively on the lives' of many others. Their success requires the kindness and commitment of their team of volunteers and financial support to keep these excellent activities going.

To help raise some money for this really worthy cause, a group of us will be taking part in an Ultra Marathon. On the 24th June 2017 we will be participating in the Race to the Kings, this is a 53 mile race along the South Downs which finishes on the steps of Winchester Cathederal. We are aiming to complete the event in under 24 hours. This will be a challenging and emotional event for us all but I'm sure it will be a lot easier than living with dementia every day of your life.
