Hi, my mum who is 67 years old has an illness called Scleroderma. It is an auto immune disease and she got this when she was 40 years old, she has almost died twice with this illness. This disease affected her lungs and gave her some fibrosis. She has been having regular checks since being diagnosed with that.

She went to hospital last December because she had a persistent cough, an x-ray was taken and she was told there were no signs of infection. She was admitted to hospital again in May, she felt very unwell and they put this down to her scleroderma.

Then in September she had a pain in her shoulder, she was sent for an x-ray for tendonitis, however, it turned out to be much more serious. She was diagnosed with Stage 4 lung cancer (a non-smoker). This was on the x-ray from the previous year but it was missed by all the professionals who were supposedly caring for her.

She is terminal and the medication she can have on a trial in the UK is not available to her because she has an auto-immune disease. However, in America they have a hospital that can treat people with auto-immune diseases with the immunotherapy drugs she cannot have in the UK. Obviously this comes at a cost and that is what I am asking for help with. If you can help, no matter how small the donation it would be greatly appreciated. We will be trying to do other things to raise money as well. It is my mum. She has always been there and she deserves a chance especially when it was taken away because it was missed last year.

Please note that any funds raised will be given to a lung cancer charity if, heaven forbid, we do not get mum to have treatment in time.
