Story

FOR JANET

This is Janet. She is a wonderful woman for whom I have known for many years living in South Africa. Unfortunately, things took a turn for the worse this year. She contracted DOUBLE KIDNEY FAILURE.

To combat this, she has had to go to South African medical services. Unfortunately, due to not being a highly developed country, the South African Government does not have the resources available to be able to treat Janet.

If she had taken treatment with the South African Government, she would most likely be dead by now.

I have no idea what the future will hold. With not enough money, I may not have much longer left to live.

With no hope of receiving an organ transplant, Janet has been placed in a private hospital, where she is hooked up to a dialysis machine, which acts like a kidney, purifying her blood, so she can stay alive, where she still is today. However, here is the main problem:

Janet is required to be hooked up to the dialysis machine 3 times a week, 12 times a month, and 144 times a year. The cost for use of the machine is HUGE! £90 pounds per treatment, £270 pounds a week. £1080 pounds a month, which leads to the astronomical cost of:

£13,000 POUNDS A YEAR!

She simply cannot afford this, and the cost of her treatment is rising every, single, year.

HOW YOU CAN HELP

1. Donations

Anything you can give would be much appreciated. Every little bit helps. Even if it's just £1.00, or 50p. Heck, even 1p is good enough! Please, Janet is in dire need of economic help, and I, or you, will not sit on the side-lines and watch her die in pain and agony. If everyone in the UK gave just £1, Janet would have the funds to be treated for the next 5385 years!

2. Spread The Word

Let others know of Janet's pain. Share this page. Share it with you're friends, you're family. With you're colleagues or other members of the public. Anything you do to let others know will be taken to heart, and will help tremendously in finding new donations!

3. Do Some Of Your Own Fundraising

There is an element of fun to this as well. If you're at school, maybe have a bake sale, and have a competition to see who can raise the most money. If you are at work, hunt everyone down to see who hasn't given donation (Just kidding, but it would be funny though). Maybe you could organise a bike ride or have a social outing with everyone where some money is used to pay for an event, and the rest to charity.

What you do today will affect Janet's life tomorrow. On our own, we are weak. Together we are strong. Humanity has evolved out of love and cooperation for each other. We need this love and cooperation more than ever. And yes, I agree, this is just like another one of those depressing stories you see on TV or other pages online. Yes, I can see why you wouldn't want to donate or help. And I see why. I completely understand that this does not involve you or you're life in any way. If you don't do anything, that's it end of story and you'll never hear about this again. But I ask you this. What if you suffered major organ failure. You had no choice but to go to an expensive private hospital that you couldn't afford, yet need to survive, with only you're family left to support you. You are financially insecure, and know that probably, within a few years, months, or even days, you would be dead. I ask you this in hope that you it moves you to do something, anything out of you're good will.

Thank you,

Dylan.
