Support Brian Russell and His Family
On April 3rd 2025, Brian Russell, my brother in law was airlifted to Cardiff Hospital after a tragic road bike accident, doing what he loved most. The crash left him with severe spinal injuries to his neck (C3-T4), some of the most critical areas of the spine. As a result, Brian has lost the ability to walk and is currently confined to bed, unable to sit up. He spent two weeks in intensive care and continues to face serious complications.
The journey ahead is incredibly uncertain. Brian must remain in Cardiff to receive ongoing specialist care, and while a spinal rehabilitation centre is the next step, there’s no clear timeline, this could still be 3–6 months away. From there, any hope of regaining some independence will take much longer, and will require extensive rehabilitation and support.
My sister, and Brian’s wife Helen, along with his children and close family and friends, have been his emotional anchor, but most live over 100+ miles away. Daily travel is not sustainable, and finding suitable accommodation near the hospital is now a pressing need. This fundraiser is to help cover those essential costs, ensuring Helen and the family can stay close to Brian during this critical time.
Should we exceed our goal, any additional donations will go toward vital equipment and home adaptations to support Brian’s long-term recovery and quality of life.
Brian has always given so much to others, through his work, his friendships, and his support of local causes. Now, it’s our turn to show up for him.
Your generosity, no matter the amount, will help keep his loved ones close and bring comfort, strength, and hope as he begins this life-changing journey.
Thank you.
