Story
This series of running races raises funds for The 401 Foundation which provides grants to community projects and individuals in building confidence and self esteem along with tackling mental health and so overcome bullying.
I really want to support them but the costs involved in competing in a 5k and a half marathon on one day and a 10k and a 6.1k the following morning (race fees, accommodation, travel, etc) are beyond me. Moaned on Facebook and many people want to help so, although I am reluctant to accept as, on the face of it, it seemed selfish as I would be having heaps of fun that others have paid for, helping any cause that reduces the impact of mental health is worth the effort! So please help get me there! Event takes place on 24 and 25 August, the weekend after my first Half Marathon!

6 years agoThe event takes place in two days time... ooh er! Gosh! Am I ready to run a 5k followed quite quickly by another half marathon (bearing in mind I only did my first one last weekend!). Am I then ready for a relaxing evening watching The Greatest Showman? Of course I am! But am I then ready to do a 10k quickly followed by 6.1k on Sunday morning? Goodness me! It is all so real now. I think I'm ready... I am ready! I'll just think of the good that will come out of the donations. We need to do all we can to reduce bullying! We do! Thanks!

6 years agoThinking back to your school days, have any of you ever been bullied? Have any of you feared that you may become a target for bullies? Do you think your school experiences, the scary play times, lunch breaks, have contributed to the way you feel and act now? Can you imagine then, how wonderful it would have been if those fears, worries and anguish were replaced with happy, relaxed school days? Running into school with a smile on your face as you anticipate meeting up with friends and having fun? Would you be the same person you are today?

I have worked in a 'helping' capacity for most of my working life. First in a school and then in Family Support. I have done this because I really do care! I care about people's well-being, their happiness and the way their children are shaped and effected. This cause helps!
