Weʼve raised £265 to Upgrade Canvey Community Archive's Website

Funded on Tuesday, 5th November 2019

    Story

Canvey Community Archive’s website http://www.canveyisland.org/category/index.aspx is nearly 11 years old (a long time in internet years) and is beginning to look its age. We are an award winning site with over 5000 pages of Canvey Island’s history. We would very much like to upgrade it to a modern clean and easy to use website fit to take us into the future. The site is maintained and hosted by Community Sites but if anything happened to them no one else knows how to sort the current site and it will disappear. Many of CS’s other sites have now changed to a different format used by many internet providers if we followed suit we would be making our site more future proof.

Unfortunately most grant funders do not consider this to be a very good investment for their funds. So we are appealing to all our friends out there who have used and enjoyed our site to help just a little towards the cost of upgrading. If you all just donated £5 we could easily hit our target.

Come on Canveyites help us go forward to a bright new future.

Great news we have the money from other sources to upgrade the website. We have started the process for the upgrade. You wont see anything for several weeks. Then the site will be frozen, which means you will still be able to view but no-one including us will be able to add anything to the site. During this time the website will be transferred to the new format and we will be trained on how to use it. Once all that is out of the way the new site will go live. We just need a little more money to cover some training expenses. Can you help?

We still have a very long way to go. We have in total raised over £1,000. From our Justgiving page, a small grant and direct contributions to us. We would like to thank everyone who has supported us. But as I said we have a long way to go so please if you want our site to continue into the future, saving our islands heritage for future generations add a small donation today. Thank you.

Hi, I am fairly new to Canvey, my wife and I purchased 7 Oxford Road in 2015 and are in the process of restoring/renovating the property. We are both interested in local history, I hope this helps.
