Story

Help us raise funds to send Kibera slum girls in Kenya to secondary school. The funds will cover school fees, living support, basic hygiene needs and mentoring.

Janris Foundation Girls Education Project

Many girls have lost parents from AIDS and Covid. Girls are especially vulnerable with little care and support. They are exposed to the dangers of criminal activities and sexual exploitation. School is regularly missed because they cannot afford sanitary towels. This project of funded places in secondary schools will help them to grow towards a brighter future.

- Merolyne Adhiambo CEO Janris Foundation

I met Merolyne, CEO of the Janris Foundation, in 2019 when I attended the UN Habitat Global Stakeholders Forum in Nairobi. I am shocked by life in the Kibera slums. The lucky ones get out. The average life expectancy is just 30 years of age. Paying for girls to get a place in a secondary school so they can ultimately get jobs and leave is in fact about saving their lives. The cost of keeping one girl in school for a year is around £450. It works out at 10 people giving £45 one-off or £4 a month. Please support this great work.
