Story
On 2nd April 2015 I was celebrating my 60th birthday with family and friends. During the evening and for a couple of weeks prior to this I'd had what I thought was a fly dancing about in my vision. On 3rd April my husband Colin, whisked me off for a special long weekend in Portugal. That was Good Friday. By Saturday morning I could barely see out if my left eye. On Easter Sunday my husband was so concerned, he spoke to the hotel receptionist who called an emergency doctor who arranged an immediate appointment at a nearby hospital.. One doctor and one eye specialist later confirmed our thoughts....I had suffered a retinal detachment. I was advised to keep my head as still as possible until we flew back late on Easter Monday. Tuesday saw us at the Prince Charles Eye Unit and on Friday of that week I had the first of three operations on ly left eye. Since then I've suffered a retinal tear in my right eye which again, was immediately dealt with by PCEU. The Consultants, Doctors, Nurses and all staff are magnificent and I cannot thank them enough for giving me sight in my left eye. The only way Colin and I could think of supporting the Unit was to provide funds to help update or replace equipment. We're holding a Charity ProAm on Sunday 6th August at Richings Park Golf Club and proceeds from that will go to the Unit. If you are unable to play or would like to make a separate donation please use this page. The PCEU provides excellent surgical and medical support for so many people. Whatever you can give, whether it's 50 pence, £5, £50 or anything in between every penny will be used in supporting the unit. Thank you.

Great idea and well worthy. It was an ordeal made as best possible by the swift treatment and personal care received. Hope the eyes are still well dialed in for the greens!

I'm 62 years old and can't run marathons so if you can support this by donating without sponsoring me for every mile, that would be fantastic. Thank you!
