Schools and education

Story

This summer we volunteered in Ghana - teaching children, helping to build a school and engaging in general outreach projects.

It was an incredibly humbling and rewarding experience. We met some of the most inspirational people we will probably ever meet in our lives. Many of whom have against all odds, been determined to carve out an education for themselves and still work tirelessly to create a better future for other people within their community.

The children that we taught were loving, kind and have clearly inherited their elders' sense of community.

However, conditions are still not good enough. Many villages do not have electricity or access to safe drinking water. Many parents cannot afford to send their children to school and even those children that are able to go to school do not have access to the most basic of resources.

We left Ghana feeling that this is not good enough. We know we arent going to solve the problem, but we can definitely do more.

Many of you would have heard about our travels and seen our pictures, but now we need your help. We were shocked to see how such a little amountht of money can make such an enormous difference. £30 can provide a family with a water filter that will last seven years, £50 can send a child to school for a year, £60 can provide health insurance for an entire class of students for a year, £300 can provide a school with a fully functioning computer suite. (One of the most shocking things we saw was an IT lesson being taught using a blackboard and rocks as a mouse).

Please dig deep, as every penny donated will go directly to the people in the communities that we worked with.
