Story
Regardless of a fear of heights, I am commiting myself to a skydive, from 10,000 feet, to raise awareness and donations for both The Institute of Cancer Research (ICR) and Mind. Donations will be split equally between the two.
This is for my nan, who fought cancer for 12 years, and who taught me what love and kindness, but also strength and courage, truly are. It is also for my friends and family, and the clients that I work with, who experience mental health challenges, yet continue to overcome the greatest obstacles presented.
I am fundraising for ICR because they are "one of the world's most influential cancer research institutes" and "are world-leading at discovering new targeted drugs for personalised cancer treatment." They aim "to improve the lives of people with all types of cancer – including those with the most challenging to treat". ICR have been influential in the research into immunotherapy, a treatment that provided hope to my nan in her final few months. Something that I want others to have.
I am fundraising for Mind because they ensure that nobody has to face a mental health problem alone - this is something that I try to embody through the support that I offer to others within both my work, and personal life.
Mind give advice and support to empower anyone experiencing a mental health problem. They campaign to improve services, raise awareness and promote understanding. They make mental health an everyday priority. They bring together an unstoppable network of individuals and communities who care about mental health, to make a difference.
If you are able to, in whatever way, please help me to support these two charities, who do everything that they can to support others.
