Story
This is a subject close to my heart. Many women go unheard when suffering with perinatal and postnatal mental health issues despite this being a lot more common than we may think. The Royal College of midwives published that 50 percent of women postnatally suffer from anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, postpartum psychosis and postnatal depression. 43 percent of these women are experienced mothers.
This is an area in health and social care that I feel is still very much a taboo despite the high statistics published by The Royal Colege of Midwives. This is a concern as any mental health issue could affect women and their families significantly. I want to help empower women to feel no shame in what they may encounter due to the state of their mental health. Those who are afffected can be left to feel inadequate as individuals. Futhermore, some mothers may feel inadequate mothers. The vast majority of women suffer in silence. I want to help change this! No women should be left to feel alone, or be alone.
I'm doing a skydive for those women diaganoiaed and undiagnosed who suffer from these mental health illnesses. Please kindly help me raise the funds to make a difference for as many mother we can.
