Story

MY name is Jason and I live on Campion way in Douglas.

Every year I have decorated the front of our house for Hop-Tu-Naa/Halloween and the families near me have really enjoyed it. Each year it gets a little bigger and the theme changes. Last year was very popular and we had a lot of visitors on the night. A few different people said how much they enjoyed it. I thought this year I might have a go at raising funds for meaningful activities and equipment at the residential unit where I work.

I work for Manx Care specifically within Dementia Care and support services as a Social Care Worker at Thie Meanagh (a residential care home in Douglas). We look after (mostly) elderly people who suffer from Dementia and can have challenging behaviors'. Part of my job is enhancing the environment around the home with seasonal decorations and activities to the benefit of our residents. I run a successful “Movie” night during the Autumn/Winter months for the benefit of our residents and I use my own equipment, some of which you can see in use when I decorate my house for Hop-Tu-Naa/Halloween. The equipment is used not only for movies but is also used to project themed photo and video slide shows for reminiscence activities as well as projecting large streaming events for the benefit of the residents.

To this end, this year I would like to try to raise some funds for our unit and provide a projector and sound equipment for the benefit of the residents and would like to ask for donations to help fund the activities for them.

Thank you for any donation.
