Story
In February Oscar was diagnosed with leukaemia at the age of 2 we was then taken to Southampton hospital to start treatment after 2 weeks of treatment he ended up with sepsis which the doctors at Southampton had under control with in a hour.
After the first lot of treatment we got told that the chemo didn’t work and they had to up the chemo he was having.
We then spent 2 months in hospital as Oscar come very unwell on the treatment and lost loads of weight, he stopped eating and had to have food down a tube, he also caught more infections so they had to stop the chemo until the infection had been controlled.
We then started the chemo again after 2 months in hospital we managed to go home for 3 days when we came back to have a bone marrow biopsy we was told that the last treatment didn’t work and the leukaemia was growing more in his body and we have to start the new treatment the next day.
so we was back in the hospital to start the new treatment.
After speaking with doctors the only way to Cure Oscar is to have a bone marrow transplant. So they started the search to find a donor for Oscar , they have recently found the match for Oscar in the form of umbilical cord.
We are due to attend Bristol hospital in July to start the bone marrow transplant where Oscar will be in a room for 6-8 weeks and will not be able to leave the room. They will kill all the bad cells in his body with more chemo and radiotherapy that will take 8 days to kill all the bad cells.
The transplant will take place the day before his 3rd birthday which he will not be able to celebrate with his family and will most likely be in pain , uncomfortable, away from home , isolated and feed up .
As oscars parents we would like to try and give our son the best time we can before and during his transplant , a journey where we have know idea what will be on the other side.
The reason for raising then money is after speaking to oscars consultant in Bristol due to Strict hygiene and isolation requirements everything has to be brand-new including toys and clothes.
We are asking for help to keep our boy entertained and as happy as he came be while he fights this disease.
It eats away at my pride to ask for help but I’m asking as I want the best possible outcome with the least amount of worry over the next chapter of Oscars treatment.
I would like to thank you for reading and please share
