Story

Jasper is our amazing, beautiful, handsome and incredibly brave 8 and a half year old Black Labrador who we have owned since he was only 8 weeks old and he is our world, our absolute everything.

However, at around 2 and a half years old, Jasper developed a limp which was attributed to severe paw and (later) skin allergies that have caused hearing loss and years of cysts, sores and major operations.

As Jasper grew a little older, it became more apparent that paw issues were not the only problem. After 5 years of paying over £25,000 in vets fees, potions & lotions, tablets & creams - in fact, everything that modern and holistic medicine could throw at us (with absolutely no results) - we have basically won the lottery, but not in monetary terms.

Out of sheer chance, we have suddenly had a complete and utter once in a lifetime opportunity to be able to take Jasper to see a specialist vet that can give Jasper a life he has never had.

We have never asked for any help with Jasper. We took him on and he is a massive part of our family, our responsibility. No insurance brokers would (or will) touch him as all continuing problems stem from that very first limp, but he’s ours and our responsibility.

He cannot walk far without giving up and needing to be collected by car to get home. We have never seen Jasper run or play with other dogs. He sits on the sidelines watching with a waggy tail unable to do the things he desperately wants to. He is basically broken, he needs 2 back hip replacements and both front elbows and shoulders need operating on too in order to fix other severe issues.

We have been told by vets in the past that he is one of the bravest dogs they’ve ever seen as he must be in constant pain 24 hours a day. He tries to be a happy boy but somedays, that are now becoming much more frequent, he has very bad days where the pain becomes too much.

He is on a vast array of medication for the pain but now not only does it not seem to work but it is beginning to cause him stomach issues because of what they are & how much he has to take, you can see below ...

We have given up everything and anything to pay for him and we wouldn’t change that for all the world but it has crippled us. We couldn’t in all conscience live with ourselves if we hadn’t of tried everything in our power to give our boy the best and happiest life he so deserves but now this isn’t enough.

Jasper has the rarest opportunity right now of having a pain free and medicine free life if he can have all of these operations but it will come to an estimate of £20,000. £15,000 will cover the 2 hip replacements, the rest will just go about covering his front legs.

This is heartbreaking beyond what words can describe for us as if all his conditions had been recognised when he was younger, we could have and would have put our money into sorting it but we are not vets and we can only go on what we were told. We are frustrated as before we could stand in front of Jasper and say we have done absolutely everything we could to help him but now that’s not true. If we can’t give him the treatment that has been offered, we will have failed him as now we haven’t tried everything and that is something we will find very hard to live with, especially when we Jaspers struggles daily. We just want him to enjoy possibly another 4 or 5 years pain free to know what that feels like & to maybe get the chance to see him play instead of limping and falling all the time.

These times are hard for everyone but please if you can help towards his operations we will be indebted to you and not least of all our stunning boy Jasper as your support will give Jasper something he should be allowd to have - pain free days.

Even if you can't donate financially, please do like and share so we can try get it in front of as many eyes as possible.

We will keep you all updated along the way.

Thank you.
