Jeff Pettitt was a former Football League and Premier League Assistant. He was a Football Referee Core Coach and an Observer for many years. He lived in Caterham.
Jeff also voluntarily ran the Referees’ Academy at Charlton Athletic for over 20 years, helping referees improve their game and move into the higher levels of officiating.
After being concerned about the deterioration in his health, last year Jeff was diagnosed with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP).
PSP is an uncommon brain disorder that affects movement control of walking and balance, speech, swallowing, vision and thinking. The disease results from damage to nerve cells in the brain.
Jeff’s condition deteriorated over the last few months and he sadly passed away at home in the early hours of Monday morning (08.11.2021).
Jeff loved his family and was a loyal friend to many.
Jeff was a great servant to the football community and was passionate about helping referees improve their game at all levels.
May he rest in peace.
