Story
Dear those who have stumbled across my fundraising page,
This September I will be taking part in Global Brigades in Nicaragua with a team of students from the University of Warwick. Global Brigades is the largest student-led movement for economic development in developing countries. We will be working alongside promising entrepreneurs and experienced staff to help create business opportunities in remote, rural and under-resourced areas. We will be doing this through strengthening community-owned banks and consulting small businesses to increase income.
So far Global Brigades has invested $464,332 to empower 11 communities in Panama, Nicaragua, Honduras and more. Past brigades have also held financial literacy clinics; set up bank accounts for children of the village, taught them how to save and the importance of saving and helped create long-term financial plans in households. This page will be updated with information of my particular project when it has been allocated.
Furthermore, I will also be carrying out a personal project where for any extra funds raised, I will be personally seeking out people and projects that I believe in and will be using this money as further investment or donations towards them. I will be interviewing local people and organisations to understand their operations, looking at where improvements can be made, why they haven't been made yet and how this can be done before implementing steps. My particular interests lie in education so I will be starting with local schools and training facilities, looking to provide material and investment towards employing and training staff. I will be documenting this entire process via a personal blog as well as hopefully looking at how it has impacted them in the future.
I am very fortunate to have had the opportunities in life that many people do not and I wish to pay it forward in a manner that matches my skills set. Through my study of Engineering with Business Management at university, I wish to look at issues and problems in operations within the community and look for applicable sustainable solutions to better them and allow local organisations to prosper for the benefit of the community. This could be by providing jobs for local people, producing a need for education and training and bringing in external investment and prosperity to the area.

I really hope you all dig deep and help me fundraise for this amazing movement and my personal project.
Love from,
Jatha :)
