I've raised £5000 to Help Jay Williamson, a semi-professional downhill mountain bike racer, to reach his full potential during the 2018 season.

Jay is an Elite Downhill World Cup Racer from cornwall.
"I'm currently working hard, training 6 days a week, to become the best rider I can be, putting everything I have into racing. I have competed at the highest level in downhill mountain bike riding, representing Great Britain at the UCI World Cup series and racing in the British National Series, regularly racing against the best riders in the world. With Great britian having the strongest line up of downhill racers in the world, I find myself just outside the performances I need to secure a full time riding deal. I need funding to help me with two aspects of my life that could make the difference that allows me to turn fully professional.
"Finishing 7th in the British Downhill Series overall, including an Elite podium finish, and qualifying in the top 80 at many UCI World Cup events over the past few years, the more I improve, the more I see ways to move forward with my racing. With great sponsorship support, and by working hard coaching other riders and working part-time, I have earned my race bike and equipment. However, in trying to race the full World Cup Series, the highest level of downhill competition, I've found that covering my travelling costs has been really difficult.
"In each of the last 4 years, I have competed at only 5 out of the 7 World Cup rounds, as my lack of funds prevents me completing the full UCI World Cup Series. Missing 2 World Cup events each season, means I miss out on valuable points in the overall standings, points that could make the difference between riding as I am now, and finally getting a full-time professional team place.
"This year I am receiving help from a professional personal trainer, who is involved in downhill mountain biking. I believe this shows my extra commitment, the lengths I'm going to, to try to reach my full potential. However, if I could raise enough money to allow me to work a little less, I could focus more of my time on improving my race performance, riding skills, and fitness. I am in the best position, the best shape I ever have been, all I need now is the funds to make 2018 my breakthrough year!"
