I've raised £50000 to help fund a comfortable, safe environment for Jaydan to live

Our grandson Jaydan Campbell is a 13 year old boy from Newcastle Upon Tyne who has multiple medical conditions and was recently diagnosed with ADNP Syndrome (also known as Helsmoortel-van der Aa syndrome). Despite all of his problems Jaydan continues to smile, laugh and everyone who meets him falls in love with him.
ADNP syndrome is a complex neuro-developmental disorder that affects the brain and many other areas and functions of the body. ADNP syndrome can affect muscle tone, feeding, growth, hearing, vision, sleep as well as the immune system, heart, endocrine system, and gastrointestinal tract. ADNP syndrome causes behaviour disorders such as Autism Spectrum Disorder. Jaydan is at the extreme end of the scale and struggles with Severe Learning Difficulties which as a result means Jaydan at 13 years old is unable to talk, he communicates with us by gestures, sounds and movements for example patting your hand when he wants more, which is usually for chocolate! Our grandson, Jaydan is also unable to walk and is wheelchair bound, he requires round the clock care, 24/7 and we are unable to leave him unsupervised and unsupported as Jaydan can be a risk to his own wellbeing.
Our irreplaceable grandson is now too heavy for his own Mum to carry up and down the stairs in his own home. Tasks such as lifting Jaydan in and out of the bath safely are an everyday struggle. We have carried out a lot of research and received many quotations for an extension to his forever, family home to make Jaydan comfortable and adapted to suit his needs and mobility. At home we are hoping to adapt the purposeless garage into a living space/ sensory room for Jaydan. As well as adding a storey above the garage with a much needed larger bedroom for Jaydan with his own bathroom which would be fully adapted to allow Jaydan to get in and out of a bath himself. A sunken bath tub would allow this as he is able to crawl and capable of climbing in and out of a swimming pool himself, if it has steps!
Jaydan at 13 years old is already at 50kg or 8.5 stone in weight and is currently just under 5ft tall. His bedroom is becoming too small for his bed meaning the space left on the floor for cleaning, changing and dressing Jaydan is growing smaller. Adapting the space above the garage would give him a 6 meter room with more than enough space for his needs; changing & dressing plus his very own bathroom. In the past, Jaydan has broken his leg as his bones are very weak and fragile, as a result of the breakages he has to be picked up and carried almost everywhere including up and down the stairs, from the house to the car and back. Taking this into consideration we are hoping to install a disabled lift to safely get Jaydan from floor to floor, out of his home and into the car. The extension would also allow us to keep Jaydan with us in a loving, home environment where he is happy and comfortable as an adult rather than using council care facilities. Unfortunately, we may have to consider using such facilities if we are unable to provide Jaydan with this extension. His mum, Lyndsay was forced to leave her career last year to become a full-time carer for Jaydan as the two responsibilities were just too much for her.
A lot of you have reached out and asked if you can fund raise or help in anyway. This is where you could really help us. This is my call to all of you, please allow Jaydan’s Mum to worry about the important things and not the financial burden – and able us as a family to focus on making Jaydan’s home life more comfortable in a home he warrants.
We are asking nothing more than this loving; happy little boy deserves. Whether you can donate £1, £5 or £10, please leave your email in the comments so we can send you a special message and update you on Jaydan’s progress. Your donations will allow us to make our grandson’s life which is already extremely limited in every way just that little bit more comfortable and easier. Every donation will bring Jaydan one step closer to a comfortable, suitable home and happiness again. If every visitor could donate just £1, $1, €1 we'd have almost £1000 already and would help immensely. Thank you for reading.
