You will know that on 13 November 2024, I suffered a devastating spinal injury while playing rugby for Banbury in a veterans’ match. I dislocated my C4 vertebra, causing severe damage to his spinal cord at the C4/C3 level. As a result, I have lost movement and sensation from the shoulders down, I require ventilator support to breathe and am now dependent on 24‑hour care. This injury has turned our lives upside down. Despite the immense challenges we face each day, we are incredibly grateful for the kindness, encouragement, and generosity already shown to us. It has reminded us that we are not facing this journey alone.

We are busy creating a safe home for me to return to this summer when I finally get discharged from Stoke Manderville.

We have the ‘builders in’, and we have begun the vital adaptations required to meet my very complex care needs and to allow me to live at home with comfort, dignity, and as much independence as possible, while also ensuring there is space for Tina, Sean and Georgina, which is essential for all of us as a family. The new home is the start for us to rebuild our lives and find our new “normal”.

We have been truly blown away by the depth of support that we have received with the pledges of support that you have offered. The great news is that the work is happening, and I would ask that you now donate through this page, your donation will go directly towards completing these essential works, helping us to move forward and focus on living life again — not just coping.
