Story

John’s Story, Running for Reach

At our 20 week scan, we found out that our son would be born with an upper limb difference. It was a moment full of emotion, we were overwhelmed, worried, and unsure where to turn.

That’s when we found Reach.

From the very beginning, Reach has been an incredible source of support. They gave us a safe space to ask questions, seek reassurance, and connect with other families going through similar experiences. Most importantly, they’ve helped our son see that he’s not alone.

Reach, along with its amazing regional volunteers, organizes events that bring children with limb differences together. These events are so much more than just fun days out, they build confidence, friendships, and a real sense of community.

To give back, I’ve decided to really challenge myself this year by taking on four races to raise as much money as possible for Reach and the incredible work they do.

It all starts on 3rd May with a Half Marathon, followed by two 10Ks, and finishing later in the year with another Half Marathon. It’s going to be a huge challenge, but one I’m proud to take on for such a special cause.

Our local Reach branch works tirelessly, giving their time and energy to support families like ours, and I want to do whatever I can to help them continue that amazing work.

I’ll be sharing updates along the way after each race, so you can follow the journey, and probably the sore legs too.

Please consider donating, no amount is too small. Your support means the world to us and will make a real difference to children and families across the UK.

Thank you so much for your kindness and support.

Let’s do this, for my son, for Reach, and for every child who deserves to feel confident, included, and proud of who they are.
