Story
Jonathan, Nicola, Lynn and Daniel are teachers from John Chilton School, Northolt.
John Chilton School is a special school for children aged 3-17 with complex physical, medical and learning disabilities.
We have decided to run the Ealing Half Marathon (13.1 miles) on Sunday 24th September to raise money to develop a sensory playground, in which our pupils will be able to socialise, learn and relax.
The playground will also be dedicated to the memory of our Headteacher Mr Simon Rosenberg, who suddenly passed away earlier this year following a short illness. The playground will be an area for pupils to reflect and remember Mr Rosenberg.
We are hoping to develop an accessible, sensory outside learning environment that our pupils will be able to use independently, enabling them to be confident and motivated to learn. At present the playground areas are unsuitable for our older pupils and are not accessible for all pupils. We are keen to redesign and overhaul our currently tired and well used outdoor provision. This funding will help to kick start the process of making a fun and engaging playground for our pupils. The renovation of our outside area will have a huge impact on the lives of the pupils; their education, social skills and wellbeing.
