Story

We are £700 short in our fundraising to get a community junior running event set up in Richmond, North Yorkshire. We have already received £2300 thanks to Richmond Meet, Richmond Duck Club, Richmond Soroptomists, Richmond Town Council and the NYCC Inspire Fund.

If we can raise the £700, we're good to start as soon as social distancing is relaxed and groups are able to run again. The community event is free to all children aged 4-14 and will run every Sunday morning. We have permission to hold the event along the disused railway line from The Station to the bridge over the River Swale and back.

A group of local children are setting themselves the target of raising £700 by collectively completing an ambitious target of 700km by running-walking-skipping-hopping-biking-scooting in one week, from Sunday 11th May (starting at 9am of course!). They will be following social distancing rules and using their daily exercise to contribute to the groups total.

Any amount you can offer would be greatly appreciated. The event is not for profit and ran each week entirely by volunteers. This event would be a great boost to the local community and to the children themselves who thoroughly deserve it having been coped up for so long!

Children will send in their daily kilometres by posting on facebook, ideally measured with steps on a pedometer or via a GPS route (Garmin/Strava...). Photos welcomed if you are happy for them to be shared publicly. We will do a daily update on this page so everyone can see how we are getting along.

In the event that we can't go ahead with the event, all monies raised will be given to local charities.
